Pallet Calculator

Estimate cartons per layer, total cartons, stack layers and basic pallet utilization with no-overhang rectangular stacking.

Pallet and carton sizes

Simple rectangular stacking, no overhang. Current units: .

Pallet
Carton
Assumption: all cartons remain upright and use one orientation per layer. The calculator compares standard and 90° rotation and chooses the higher simple grid count.

What this pallet estimate includes

This first version handles simple grid stacking with upright cartons, a height limit and no overhang. Real pallet patterns can sometimes fit more cartons by mixing orientations or using interlocking arrangements, so the result is a planning estimate rather than an optimization guarantee.

Pallet example

With a 48 × 40 inch pallet, 18 × 12 × 10 inch cartons and 60 inches of usable load height, the simple grid estimate fits 8 cartons per layer × 6 layers = 48 cartons.

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculator optimize mixed carton orientations?

Not yet. It compares one standard grid with a 90° rotated grid and chooses the better result. More advanced mixed-orientation optimization is planned for a later version.

Does the pallet height include the pallet itself?

The input is labeled usable load height, so enter the height available for cartons after accounting for any pallet or operating limit that applies to your shipment.
