Shipping Box Size Optimizer

Compare three candidate boxes against a required packed size and estimate which fitting box produces the lowest billable weight.

Required dimensions can be rotated. The optimizer checks whether each candidate box can contain the required rectangular dimensions in any axis order, then compares estimated billable weight.

Optimization scope

This compares the three box sizes you enter. It does not model cushioning compression, irregular products, multi-item 3D bin packing or carrier-specific surcharges. Use it to compare realistic candidate packaging options.

Worked example

For a 12 × 9 × 6 inch required packed size and the default candidate boxes, Box A is the smallest fitting option and also produces the lowest dimensional-weight estimate of the three default choices.

Frequently asked questions

Does this search every possible box size?

No. It compares the three candidate boxes you enter. This makes it useful for choosing among realistic packaging options you already stock or are considering.

Does it account for cushioning?

Only if your required packed dimensions already include the space needed for cushioning, inserts and product protection.
